Who we are
wewrote.ai is a collective creative project. For GDPR purposes, the data controller is the operator of this service. Contact: privacy@wewrote.ai
What data we collect
When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and display name via Google OAuth. We store this to identify your account. We also store the sentences you submit, the timestamp of each submission, and a count of your daily submissions.
Why we collect it
Your email and display name are used solely for authentication and to identify you as a contributor. Submitted sentences are used as source material for AI-generated pages of the collective book. We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.
Cookies
We use essential cookies only — session cookies required for authentication to function. We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies. You can decline non-essential cookies via the banner; this does not affect your ability to use the site.
Legal basis (GDPR)
We process your data on the basis of contractual necessity (to provide the service) and legitimate interests (maintaining the security and integrity of the collective book). Sentence submissions become part of a permanent collective work and are processed on the basis of your explicit consent given at the time of submission.
Third parties
Supabase (database and authentication hosting, EU data residency available), Vercel (hosting), Anthropic (AI page generation — submitted sentences are sent to Anthropic's API for synthesis), Google (authentication only). Each operates under their own privacy policy.
Data retention
Account data is retained for as long as your account exists. Submitted sentences become part of the permanent archive and are retained indefinitely as part of the collective work, even after account deletion.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data; to restrict or object to processing; and to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@wewrote.ai. Note that sentences already incorporated into published pages may not be removable as they form part of a collective work. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
